 I’ve been training with Mat since July 2009 and while some mornings are   a struggle to lift, push, pull, run, row, cycle or punch, we always get through.

I have a theory most stupid people don’t know they’re stupid!
Extending that to the unfit I’d have to say most unfit people don’t realise how unfit they are; they just adjust their lives accordingly.  Snuggling up in your trackie dacks digging into the icecream and staring at the box is not a choice it’s a lifestyle adjustment forced upon you for failing to move.  Mat Price has demonstrated to me how much my fitness levels have curtailed my everyday life and enjoyment.

The demands of my business had become such that my priorities had become confused.  I was overweight, unfit and unhappy. My bad cholesterol was BAD.  My kids had given up on trying to get me to play touch footy or try Rip Stikking.

A workmate booked me a session on my behalf with Mat because he knew I needed a shove to get out of a rut.

I’ve been training and boxing with Mat for 6 months.  He developed a diet and a training regime that whilst testing was not discouraging.  I’ve lost 10kgs and I’m much fitter. Most importantly I’m much happier. Mat knows his stuff but so do a lot of trainers.

The Price Fitness difference is empathy and interest in your progress.  Mat makes it personal.  He’s kind of like a horse whisperer only his extra sensory perception relates to humans across all ranges of fitness levels.  He senses what you need and encourages you along a path to achieve your goals.  He may have been Santa in a past life because he knows when you’ve been naughty and he won’t let you get away with it!

A word of warning to potential clients: Mat can’t count or he counts with a stutter and his memory is shot because he’s always saying: “last set.”

After 12 months of personal fitness training with Matthew Price I am thrilled with my results.

Since starting one-on-one training twice a week my cardiovascular fitness has improved and I noticed a marked improvement in my muscle tone and strength. He has shown me how trainings are varied so they are challenging and fun.

I decided to have a break from training when my PT left the area mid 2009 and I was not keen on starting again with someone new. I felt overwhelmed by my weight gain and I went to Sierra Fitness to seek some help in finding a personal trainer who would ‘lock me in’ to a weight loss program to achieve my goal to lose 40kg.  My biggest hurdle was exercising with sore legs from all the weight I was carrying.

I went to Mat because my daughter Amanda had such good results.

She had been trying to lose weight for a long time without a good result from previous programs & Mat is such a great motivator, he got the mix of exercise & diet just right. I didn’t really need to lose weight & I thought my existing program of walking, yoga & paddling my kayak was enough but I am much fitter now with only an extra hour of PT each week. I have been training with Mat at Price Fitness in both personal training and outdoor group boxing sessions for the last 6 months. The facts speak for themselves:

  1. Pants size from 42inch to 36inch (and 1 pair of 34 jeans).

  3. Total body weight loss of 8kg with a massive change in my whole body shape.
  4. I struggled to run 10 kilometres and then after 6 months completed the 21.1km half marathon in 2hr15min.

I have been weight training regularly for the last 7 years and I have trained with many other people throughout this time which has helped me achieve my goals. For the past 12 months however, I have hit a plateau and I felt my fitness level was declining, therefore I decided to try Mat Price from Price Fitness to personal train me for a 12 week period.

Prior to commencement of the 12 week personal training period, Mat consulted with me as to what results I would like to achieve. I explained that I wanted to maintain the same weight but at the same time lose any excess fat that I may be carrying. I asked Mat to push me to the limit and I also said I wanted to become fitter as I had noticed that my cardio was beginning to suffer.

During the 12 week training period Mat pushed me to the limits. The training periods were physically demanding yet Mat was considerate of my own abilities so as not to over stress any exercises and cause injury. Mat maintained some of my previous training routine and incorporated some of his own. He shortened the rest period between sets and he pushed me to failure on all exercise sets.

I have just completed the 12 week training period with Mat and I have achieved the results I was after.
